Lefkada, Greece – How to Get to the Island?
There are a few ways to get to Lefkada. The easiest and fastest is a direct flight to Preveza — in the summer months there are two flights per week from Israel to Preveza. From Preveza to Lefkada it's just a 25-minute drive.
Another option is a direct flight to Ioannina and then about a two-hour drive. If you land in Ioannina, you can combine a trip through Northern Greece.
The third option (and how we got there) is to take a direct flight to Athens and then drive about 4 hours to Lefkada — don't let the distance scare you, it's a beautiful drive through the Greek mountains.
What to Do on the Island of Lefkada?
One of the greatest pleasures on Lefkada is visiting the island's beautiful beaches and spending the whole day there. But you'll be surprised at how much more the island has to offer.
Lefkada is a very green island — covered in forests, mountains, and beaches — making it a perfect destination for hiking, cycling, and water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
And of course, if you're looking for nightlife, bars, and good food, you'll find all of that in Lefkada's main town and in the village of Nydri.
